Meet Billy and Heather

Billy dreamed of becoming a professional Jockey from a very young age. He didn’t just want to be an average Jockey he wanted to be one of the best. In order to become one of the best he knew that he would need to win the greatest race in quarter horse racing, the All-American futurity. His dream of riding in the All-American became a reality in 1994. Unfortunately, the result was nothing like he had imagined. Billy and the horse he was riding,Doo Dominate went down 300 yards into the 440 yard race. By the grace of God Billy survived the incident, Doo Dominate was not so fortunate. Billy had to re-examine his lifelong ambition of winning this great race as he struggled with the idea of giving up on his dreams. The fear and trauma of what had transpired had a profound effect upon him. Growing up with a number of setbacks and adverse childhood experiences, Billy knew what it meant to literally get back on the horse— which is exactly what he did. And in 1995 he hooked up with one of the greatest racehorses of all time, Winalota Cash, and together they not only won the All-American futurity, but the Texas Classic futurity as well and went on to become world champions in 1995. 
Fast-forward to today, and Billy carries on the same passion and commitment to excellence and success as he carried throughout his career as a Jockey. He and his wife Heather work hard to make Buck Way Ranch a respected and successful horse breeding and racing operation. They hope to step into that All American winner’s circle again, this time as owners. With the help of their family, the trainers, grooms and jockeys, and many other individuals who assist them with their horses, they are striving to produce many future stakes winners, hopefully even champions, and establish a winning tradition at Buck Way Ranch.
